Family Workers
Our Family worker is Mrs Katie Richards (Mon-Weds). We work hard to support our children and families, providing a range of support and interventions.
Draw and Talk is a 12-week intervention.
Nurture groups also take place for those that may require support with friendships and emotions. These take place in groups or on a 1:1 basis.
A government website has been made available to focus on giving children the best start in life, it focuses on:
It includes a parent hub which gives ideas around being “school ready” when they preparing to start in our Reception classes and how to help your child, for example;
- Practising sharing and taking turns with toys
- Talking to them about how they are feeling and why
- Looking at story books together
- Encouraging them to set boundaries for themselves and others (e.g., knowing how to say ‘no’)
- Singing along with songs and nursery rhymes
- Recognising the pattern of their name (so they can find it on their coat peg or jacket)
- Paying attention for short periods of time
- Listening to and following simple instructions
- Carrying on with a task even when it’s difficult and bouncing back if things go wrong
It also has a childcare eligibility criteria checker that allows you to put in some of you child’s details and it will show results in order of what childcare you can access for your individual circumstance.
